FOOD REVIEW: CROWN NOBU MELBOURNE

A'HOY READERS!
HOW ARE WE ALL?!
YES, I KNOW I HVE BEEN ABSENT FOR ALMOST A WHOLE YEAR SINCE MY LAST POST (Wellington, 2016).
I do sincerely apologise, I have been lacking motivation to write a post up for you all.
Be hold today will mark the first of my return and that I keep my words.

I have reviewed my content of this blog since starting and have found many of you readers are more interested in food reviews. Therefore, I have decided to share my foodie adventures/travels (if I do travel) with you all and please do stay tune for hopefully many more reviews to come :) *DISCLAIMER please do not expect much hehe

Menu review: https://www.zomato.com/melbourne/nobu-southbank/menu#tabtop (starting from page 9 for dinner)

Lets get this review going shall we! Note - I only took photos of my food however I did not take all of my food
I did some research on the restaurant NOBU (not really but interesting facts), it is a Japanese cuisine more fine dining I guess so do expect to pay $$$ for quality food.
NOBU is located inside Crown near the waterworks show display area (my sense of direction is not so good), my family and I made a reservation for Easter Sunday at 6pm for four people. We were greeted with a lovely lady who led us to our table. Nobu is a two level restaurant, we were seated downstairs. The atmosphere of the restaurant was quite dark, was accompanied by candle lights I guess for the more romantic vibe like a candlelight dinner feel.

We were given menus to order, bare in mind if you do eat here be sure to turn your phone flashlight on haha (it sounds exaggerated but really I am shortsighted) I had trouble reading in the dark so I had to hover the candle whilst looking at the menu which is quite troublesome.

From the cold dish menu, we ordered the Yellowtail Sashimi with Jalapeno ($24) picture is below. The pink swirl cone looking glass is the Suikami cocktail ($22) it came with sliced watermelon sashimi haha

Next off we had the Newstyle Salmon ($24) unfortunately I didn't take a photo of this but it was similar to the Yellowtail Sashimi above but with Salmon, seasame oil, Japanese soy sauce and garnishes.

Continuing from the cold dishes menu came the beef Tataki Ponzu and garlic chips ($28). I absolutely enjoyed this dish especially the garlic chips on top giving it a crispy crunch to it yummmm oiishi desu yo

Looks delicious right?! I think this is a MUST-TRY dish
Mum also saw alot of many people Edamame so we called it as well. I personally don't like it but ordered because she saw most table sucking onto a snow pea lookalike veggie. I did not take a photo of this as well but I think its somewhat like a snow pea. ($7.50 a bowl)

Next we ordered to the "recommended dish based from staff" which was the baby spinach salad with dry miso ($21)  and the black cod miso ($51 hot dish menu). I personally did not like the baby spinach salad because it had a cheesy taste to it and I am not quite a fan of cheesy smell either. OH NO I THOUGHT I DID TAKE THE PHOTO OF THEM BOTH BUT I DIDN'T T.T
I'll try and find the black cod miso (below) because that was popular as I saw most table ordered the cod.

Moving onto the hot dish menu, my brother wanted soft shell crab so we ordered the crispy soft shell crab ($29) delicious however the crab was very much soaked in oil and some parts of the soft shell crab were very fishy.

Photos aren't up to par
Then we ordered lamb cutlet which came with a bowl of rice. I did not eat this because I'm not a lamb person but seemed like parents enjoyed this dish.

And lastly we ordered the soft shell crab sushi roll ($22) this was good.

In the end, food was delicious, service was excellent however delivering food to our table was like a waiting game maybe due to the public holiday or the restaurant was booked out??
Our total bill at the end of the night was $278.50 for nine dishes including my cocktail which is reasonably, however some may say portion are small but everyone is the family was full at the end of the night.

Would I return again? Yes but only for a special occasion.
My next Japanese restaurant I want to try is Koko Crown ^.^

More information on NOBU is not only based in Australia (Perth and Melbourne) however is also located in the US, Asia and Europe. Link is below if your interested in finding a NOBU in your country/area http://noburestaurants.com/
