WELLINGTON 2016
Hi all :)
I have returned (Monday 11th July) from my windy trip from Wellington, New Zealand where I stayed for a week.
My trip to Wellington was quite spontaneous with a friend for a short holiday before uni starts T.T we flew with Jetstar early Monday morning since its winter over there not much difference to Melbourne however was slightly colder there.
We stayed at a guesthouse via airbnb. The stay was pleasant, the guest was friendly and helpful and was convenient literally a 2 minute from to Cuba Street (renown street).
Our first day in Wellington, we did not do much as we wanted to explore within the area and not travel too far as we were jetlag and extremely tired from the passengers behind us who constantly kept talking -.-
DAY 1:
Wanted to ride their famous Cable Car to the Botanical Garden however the Cable Car itself was being upgraded so we were quite disappointed but we manage to take the bus up to the cable car museum and walk around Botanical Garden
DAY 2:
Being a tourist went to visit Te Papa Museum saw an exhibit dedicated to the ANZAC Gallipolli and as well as reaching to the top of Mt Victoria.
DAY 3:
Went to hire a car so we could explore more of Wellington! We hired from Jucy they were the only ones who would hire out to restricted drivers which is definitely a bonus ^^ hiring the car for 4 days was cheap with Jucy, insurance was inclusive as well.
I drove to the Pinnacles and then to Cape Palliser to see the lighthouse; driving duration was approximately 5 hours in total return was quite far from Wellington
DAY 4:
Continued our drive to Mt Kaukau; I remember that day was EXTREMELY WINDYYY (thats why they call Windy Wellington I guess lol) view was INCREDIBLE
Made our way to Paekakariki Beach driving to the destination was breath-taking driving along the coast line if you plan to go Wellington definitely check out Paekakariki Beach
We made to it another Beach 20 mins from Paekakariki called Waikanae Beach view was ABSOLUTELY STUNNING and we manage to made it after sunset
DAY 5:
Went to an underground market where I got my palm read then to Red Rock reserve to see sea colonies and Zealandia sanctuary (although when researching where to go Zealandia was a recommendation honestly I didn't think it was it was worth it from my point of view)
DAY 6:
To a Sunday fruit and veggies market, Birchville Dam (look was worth the trip peaceful and quite) and to Pirate Cove's Mini Golf because I enjoy playing mini golf hehe
DAY 7:
Return early morning back to reality D;
I definitely enjoyed Wellington as what it had to offer. The city itself would be young and still developing there were major work constructions on site but other than that I think it's somewhere to enjoy mother nature or to de-stress.
I have many more photos to show however it is NOT letting me upload them --
